How it works

  1. Record with the free app. Install Eterna Recorder on iPhone. Your parent records spoken consent, then tells their stories. Everything stays on the phone until you choose to send it.
  2. Send us the archive. After you order, we email you simple instructions for sending the verified archive the app exports.
  3. Receive their voice. We prepare keepsake messages in their cloned voice and give you private alpha access to ask questions about their life, answered in their voice from their own recordings.

Consent and trust

Their consent, in their own voice

The app records your parent reading a consent statement aloud before any story. That recording, their name, and a tamper-evident checksum travel together in a Voice Rights Passport inside the archive. We only clone a voice from an archive whose passport checks out.

Used for your family only

Their voice is used only to make messages and answers for your family. It is never sold, never used to train other voices, and never used for advertising.

Delete it any time

You, or the speaker, can ask us to delete the voice model and recordings at any time. We cancel the subscription, refund the unused part of the current month, and send you every keepsake we made. Details are in our privacy policy and service terms.

Questions

What exactly do we receive, and when?

Audio keepsake messages in their cloned voice, for example a birthday greeting or a few words for a grandchild, written with you and grounded in their real stories. The first keepsakes arrive within 14 days of us receiving a complete archive.

What is the question-and-answer alpha?

A private, early-access way to ask about their life ("How did you meet Grandma?") and hear an answer in their voice, drawn only from what they recorded. It is an alpha: it will say when it does not know, and it will keep improving.

How much do they need to record?

Around 30 minutes of stories gives a good voice and a useful set of answers. More stories mean richer answers. Short sessions across several days work well.

Which languages work?

English and Mandarin work best today. The recorder guides consent in English, Chinese, and Russian. Tell us the language of the stories when you order and we will confirm before any work starts.

Can you use old recordings of someone who has passed away?

Not yet. Today every voice needs spoken consent recorded by the speaker in the app. We will not clone a voice without it.

Can we cancel?

Yes, any time, by email. The setup fee is fully refundable until your first keepsake is delivered. After that, cancelling stops future billing and we refund the unused part of the current month.

Where is their voice stored?

The archive and voice model are stored on servers we operate, encrypted in transit. Voice synthesis and answers use third-party AI providers under business terms. The privacy policy names each one.

Why do we pay on the web, not in the app?

The recorder is free and works on its own. The voice service is delivered by us, outside the app, so it is ordered here.
